Diva Biker Babe Jacket

Finally. I finished it. This jacket was quite a bit of work mainly because the pattern (HotPatterns Diva Biker Babe Jacket) did absolutely not fit my frame and also turned out bigger than one could expect from the size chart. I had to make a lot of adjustments and even add an extra dart at the bust to fit it (I think that apart from the collar, I could not leave a single seam unchanged). The pattern did not include matching notches for the sleeve cap which made it an annoying and time consuming trial-an-error affair to insert the sleeves... Nevertheless I like the finished jacket. The fabric is from my stash, I bought it 1999 (!) in Vienna at a Komolka sale. It is a double face fabric, tweed on one and a fleece on the other side. For a bit of a deconstructed look I used the selvedge along the front body and also left the zip tape visible on one side. An interesting detail in the pattern are the sleeves: they are cut on the bias. This gives them more flexibility and makes the jacket more comfortable to wear. I did not line the jacket but finished all seams with bias tape for a clean look.

Eigentlich wollte ich schnell eine ungefütterte Jacke für den Frühling nähen. Weil das Schnittmuster (wieder von Hot Patterns) aber überhaupt nicht gepasst hat, wars dann schlussendlich mit ziemlich viel Arbeit verbunden... Nervig war vor allem, dass im Schnittmuster keine Anstosszeichen für die Armkugel eingezeichnet waren und ich diese deshalb "reinpröbeln" musste. Schlussendlich bin ich nun aber mit der fertigen Jacke ganz zufrieden. Der Stoff ist noch aus Wien, 1999 (!) bei Komolka gekauft, aussen Tweed, innen Fleece. Weil ich beide Stoffseiten schön finde, habe ich für den Kragen die Fleece Seite verwendet. Entlang des Reissverschlusses habe ich die Webkante des Stoffes als Abschluss gelassen und den Reissverschluss sichtbar aufgesteppt. Die Jacke ist ungefüttert, ich habe aber alle Nähte mit Schrägband versäubert.

HotPatterns hat übrigens eine ganze Reihe von Filmchen auf Youtube gestellt, in denen Trudy diverse HP- Schnittmuster vorstellt. Manchmal etwas sehr ausführlich aber durchaus amüsant und auch sprachlich äusserst wertvoll (erstens fürs Nähvokabular und zweitens ist Trudy Engländerin) :-)
